Ralph Lauren, First Fashion House Rachel Green Worked at in ‘Friends,’ Is Paying Homage to the Fan-Fave Show

Friends have long been put to bed but its legacy remains ever-present. It has become one of the cult classics from the ‘90s that up until now is very much celebrated even by the younger generations.

It has been 25 years since it first graced our televisions and 15 years since the curtains closed and we still clamor for a rerun despite memorizing all the lines of the six friends living in a New York apartment building together.

Rachel Green’s Story Arc

Rachel Green is arguably the most fashionable in the group

It proved to be a big break for the stars of the show, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc, whose careers took off after their stint with the show.

The show was also instrumental in creating some of the most beloved characters on TV, specifically Rachel Green, portrayed by the Just Go With It actress. The rich lady was incredibly a fan-favorite — after becoming a runaway bride, she had to resort to jobs that are definitely not on her realm.

Rachel became a waitress at a coffee shop, which Friends fans would know was called the Central Perk, where she would serve the wrong beverage, but still manage to get through the day.

Her antics weren’t amiss as well when she worked at Ralph Lauren for five years, wherein the designer himself even made a cameo once on the show. The elevator scene saw a stunned and obviously star-struck Jennifer standing next to the man himself.

Ralph Lauren’s Role

Ralph Lauren even made a cameo in the show

It is safe to say that the brand has become a huge part of the show, and the same can be said of the character. So, in celebration of Friends’ 25th year, Ralph Lauren has partnered with Warner Bros.

Consumer Products to come up with a Wear to Work line aptly called The One Where They Wore Ralph Lauren inspired by the one and only Rachel. The move was fitting for both parties since the designer is paying homage to the seminal series that involved his brand for several years.

If you can remember (or perhaps rewatch it on a streaming service), Rachel was also one to be lauded for her sartorial choices.

Basically, the collection consists of pieces that the chicest character of Friends would have worn on her work nowadays like midi and mini skirts in plaid, leather, and suede, as well as turtlenecks and velvet jackets.

Paying Homage to Friends

For the show’s 25th anniversary. Ralph Lauren launched a collection showcasing Rachel Green’s classic style

2019 is a special year for Friends fans, and companies are not deaf nor dumb not to take advantage of the mammoth sitcom.

Ralph Lauren was hardly the first one to celebrate the 25th year since the show graced our small screens. In July, home furnishing store Pottery Barn launched a line that screams the ‘90s show — one of its products was hilariously called The One With The Apothecary Table.

Lego had also released a mini Central Perk, complete with the characters, including the manager Gunther. It even has the smallest details like a cookie jar, flowers, and menu. H&M and ASOS had also sold shirts and sweatshirts with the Friends logo.
