That’s why when Prince Harry decided to stand up against the British tabloids, which had been relentlessly attacking his wife, Meghan Markle, people can’t help but compare what’s happening to the former Suits actress to the late Princess Diana.
Defending His Wife
On Oct. 1, the Duke of Sussex finally broke his silence in an open letter that details how he and his wife were affected by the lies created by the media. Meghan, who was catapulted to another level of stardom when she started dating the member of the royal family, has been one of the constant topics in British tabloids.
As much as she became a darling in the eyes of a lot of people all over the world, the press developed a weird fascination toward her in a bad way.
No, we don’t mean the tireless critique on her outfits but the malicious accusations thrown at her. Now, Prince Harry has come in defense of Meghan and explained that the mom of Archie Harrison had endured the harsh treatment of the press despite being pregnant and up until she had given birth.
Note that the letter was signed only by the Duke and the emotional letter speaks a lot about their struggles in the midst.
Pain Despite the Silence
The new father may have been doting over his son but he is taking a firm stance against those that he said bully the Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Harry admitted that they tried to remain unfazed and undisturbed by the unfair and spiteful coverage, but it is excruciating, to say the least. He also shed light on how Meghan had to deal with the bad rep she has been getting from the British media, saying he had witnessed how she suffered in private.
Princess Diana’s Death
In the letter, Prince Harry revealed he feared that history might repeat itself. His mother, the Princess of Wales, met her demise in 1997 due to a car crash in Paris.
After an investigation on Princess Diana’s death, it was found that they met an accident after throngs of paparazzi were following her. He further said that he doesn’t want his wife to become a victim as well of malicious reporting.
The retaliation was in line with the private letter, which Meghan penned to her estranged father and which was leaked and published by a notorious tabloid.
As such, Prince Harry said they are taking legal actions against the outlet, which he accused to have manipulated the public by omitting some parts of the letter.
As the Duke released the statement and revealed that they were going to take some unusual steps to curb the abuse toward his wife, the Duchess has started to sue the publisher.
The said outlet, The Mail on Sunday, said it didn’t edit any part of Meghan’s letter that would convey a different meaning and that they would fight the royals’ lawsuit.
